Spitting of Blood

spitting blood

Spitting blood is very common and frightening to the patient. Blood in the mouth or oral region can be coming from several sources and determining the location is important. The blood may result from simple causes like a mouth injury, lip injury, etc., which are probably not serious if the injury is not serious.

• Nosebleed

• Prior nosebleed

• Pharyngitis, Tonsillitis

• Coughing blood- Haemoptysis

• vomiting blood- Hematemesis

• Bleeding gums

• Sinusitis

• Blood disorders

• And the list go on and on

Here I present an young man who has troublesome spitting of blood, had all investigations done and the only cause I could find was telangiectasia-dilated blood vessel in the oropharynx, which is common.

Cauterization with Silver nitrate or using Co2 laser gives relief.
