Laser Septoplasty in Jubilee Hospital.
The use of a laser in correcting a deviated nasal septum is a relatively new procedure and has gained popularity because of its speed and rapid recovery time. Unlike a surgical septoplasty in which the nasal cavity is open and the nasal septum removed or straightened, laser septoplasty uses a CO2 laser to remove the excess amount of cartilage and bony spur that grows as a result of a deviated septum.
Many patients prefer the laser septoplasty procedure as it can be done as day case and fast recovery time. It can be done under local or general anesthesia.
Under local anesthesia with the procedure taking between 5 and 20 minutes as supposed to the standard one hour procedure that a regular septoplasty procedure requires.
