Rhinoplasty Just Before Marriage

I get enquiries from lot of girls and boys to get the Nose job done just before wedding. Usually I discourage them unless they have 2-3 months time before wedding.

The reason, in 2-3 months the majority of the swelling will be gone, but they will still have a fair amount of swelling in the tip which will be evident in the wedding photos. But if you have an ugly nose, go for it, result would likely be better than the deformity or problem you have now.

Swelling with Rhinoplasty surgery occurs both on the outside and inside of the nose. It is normal to feel congested and have nasal obstruction immediately after Rhinoplasty surgery. Most discomfort and swelling generally resolve with a few weeks. Patients are generally socially acceptable within 2-3 weeks. The final 20% of swelling takes a much longer time to resolve, up to a year or longer after surgery. Fortunately, this final nasal swelling is usually only evident to the patient and surgeon.

Rhinoplasty swelling varies greatly and is largely based on the areas of the nose treated, surgical approach (open external or closed endonasal), skin thickness, postoperative care, and your healing ability. The more extensive the surgery, the more you will swell and the longer the swelling will last.

Generally two months is sufficient for most swelling and discomfort, if there isn’t a complications. However, there is also an emotional component to postoperative healing. You already have enough to worry about regarding the wedding and all it\’s planning. It may be appropriate to wait until afterward.
